The Chief Legal Counsel for the US Army Corps of Engineers issues an opinion on January 9th stating that Metro Atlanta could depend on Lake Lanier as a primary water source. This verifies that part of Lake Lanier’s intent was to provide drinking water for Metro Atlanta’s population. The opinion states that providing water for Atlanta will not adversely affect the other priorities of which the lake was constructed to fulfill.
