Cherokee County sponsored a joint workshop with the Etowah HCP staff on February 28th that was designed to help local governments address the impacts of the development within the HCP area and promote economically-viable and watershed-friendly development practices. The workshop introduced participants to Better Site Design principles, identified exiting code and ordinance requirements that might be “stumbling blocks” to their use, and planted the seeds for developing alternatives based on local issues and needs. The target audience for the workshop included: city and county development staff, plan reviews, developers, engineers, and community leaders. For more information, please contact Dr. Tim Carter, Etowah HCP, at 706-542-6821 or visit www.etowahhcp.org.
