Upcoming DeKalb County SPLOST and EHOST Vote

Vote YES on November 7th for DeKalb County SPLOST and EHOST!

On November 7th, DeKalb County voters will be asked to approve for the first time ever, a critical one-cent SPLOST, which will allow the County to repave more than 318 miles of DeKalb’s roads, fund new fire station construction, police car purchases, park repairs, and other infrastructure projects. You can view the complete project list HERE for the County and the Cities project lists HERE.  If approved by the voters, the SPLOST is expected to generate $636 million over the next six years which will allow the County to remain a great place to live, work and play by providing critical improvements and upgrades to infrastructure and other pressing needs. The County and Cities have passed an intergovernmental agreement that estimates, based on population, what the County and Cities will receive over the six-year periods, which you can see in the chart below.

Additionally,  DeKalb County voters will be asked to suspend the current Homestead Option Sales Tax and instead authorize and Equalized Homestead Option Sales Tax, which is projected to raise $110 million annually (a more than 50% increase compared to HOST collections) which will be solely used to reduce property taxes for homeowners. Currently, 80% of monies collected from HOST are used to for property tax relief, while 20% goes to Capital improvements.  If the EHOST passes, 100% of monies collected will go towards property tax relief. You can find a list of FAQ HERE on the HOST/EHOST Issue.

It is crucial DeKalb voters approve both the SPLOST and the approval of a new EHOST, as both must pass simultaneously in order to be enacted.   This vote is critical to the voters of DeKalb County to allow the County to repair and upgrade critical infrastructure, which is vital to keep DeKalb competitive economically and commercially.

The Council for Quality Growth commends the County and Cities for their dedicated work on the SPLOST issue and encourages our members to support the DeKalb County SPLOST vote on November 7th!
