Tree Ordinance Revisions & Clearing and Grading Moratorium

On October 27th, the City Council voted to postpone a public hearing on amendments to the Tree Preservation until November 10th. Snellville has been working on revisions to the Tree Preservation Ordinance to allow developers to obtain a stand-alone Grading Permit without having to submit a Preliminary Plat for a subdivision or a complete set of site development plans for non-subdivision projects. The City Council has failed to achieve consensus on the matter and voted on several occasions to postpone the matter. At its September 8th meeting a motion was made to deny the revisions, but it failed and the matter was postponed to September 22nd. On September 22nd, the City Council voted 5-1 to implement a moratorium on clearing and grubbing until the matter is resolved.
