The Transit Governance Study Commission met on December 7th. The commission was created under the Transportation Investment Act of 2010 and is working on a report regarding the feasibility of combining all the public transportation entities in the Atlanta region into an integrated regional transit body. Guests at there recent meeting included Steve Schlickman from the University of Chicago and Cal Marcela from the Colorado transit system. Both gentlemen discussed how transit has impacted citizens in Chicago and Colorado. Other speakers included Dekalb Commissioner Jeff Rader and Mayor Jere Wood who both spoke on how MARTA affects their constituents. The Transit Governance Study Commission must submit a final report of their findings by August 2011.
