On June 18th the State Transportation Board elected Vance Smith as the new Commissioner of GDOT. Smith has previously served as the Chairman of the House Transportation Committee. Gerald Ross, who has served as Interim Commissioner for the last few months, will return to his position as Chief Engineer at GDOT.

Also occuring on June 18th, Governor Perdue appointed Todd Long to serve in the new Director of Planning position. Long worked for GDOT for 18 years, and has spent the last two at GRTA.
