On Friday, the House passed HB 806, a bill sponsored by Jay Roberts (R – Ocilla) that would allow gas tax funds to carry over from year to year. Additionally, the bill would allow GDOT access to $1 billion in gas tax funds to spend on projects throughout the state. The legislation has earmarked approximately $300 million of this revenue to fund the I-75/575 managed toll lane project. Previously, the toll road was to be financed through a public-private partnership, but that plan was rejected due to disagreement between the parties regarding future road construction.
