Governor’s Commission Steady’s the Helm in Brookhaven

The Commission charged by the Governor to get a head start on city operations before the December 17 date for the city to officially begin has been working overtime to ensure a smooth transition occurs.

Requests for proposals (RFP) for needs such as traffic engineering, designs, park maintenance and programming, as well as administrative work are to be made public next week and will allow vendors about 3 weeks to present their proposals.   Police and fire, city attorney and city manager are going to be maintained by the city and do not require a proposal.

Concerns about the budget still loom as no estimate from the Governor’s Commission has been offered, although a recent study indicates it will be around $25 million.
