The State Codes Advisory Committee (SCAC) met on July 26 to review optional Code Appendices and Georgia State Amendments. Included in the review are Georgia State International Building Code Appendix R Disaster Resilient Construction and the optional Georgia State International Building Code Appendix N Disaster Resilient Construction code appendices as well as the Georgia Amendments to the 2006 editions of the following State Minimum Standard Codes: the International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings (IRC) and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). The SCAC recommended that the Department of Community Affairs Board adopt these code appendices and amendments. These changes will be presented to the DCA Board at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 7 at the office of the DCA, 60 Executive Park South, N.E., Atlanta, GA 30329. If approved, they will become effective January 1, 2013.
