On Monday, June 4th, the DeKalb County Department of Planning and Sustainability held its inaugural DeKalb County Builders Information Exchange (DeCoBIE) meeting at the Maloof Auditorium in downtown Decatur. Eric Woods, Building Development Administrator for the Department of Planning and Sustainability, gave a presentation regarding the new changes that are taking place within the building permitting process. DeCoBIE will be a group that meets once a month in order to discuss any changes being made to the permitting process as well as to raise issues that the development industry has with these changes or changes that need to be made. If you are interested in becoming a member of DeCoBIE, please e-mail Josh Stephens at js@councilforqualitygrowth.org
The Council for Quality Growth has been working with DeKalb County as well as our partners at the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association to begin the process of overhauling the permitting process in DeKalb. We would like to thank Gary Cornell, the Director of the Department of Planning and Sustainability, Eric Woods and other staff for including the Council in this process. We look forward to continuing this process and taking part in DeCoBIE.
