DeKalb County Considering Rezoning of Land South of Airport

The DeKalb County Commission is currently considering rezoning 15 acres located just south of the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport to allow for light commercial use. The 15-acre parcel is currently zoned for residential use; however, if the Commission were to opt to rezone the land its value would be an estimated $3.5 million. DeKalb County has indicated that the land would likely be sold and the funds used to finance airport improvements. The County originally purchased the land with Federal Aviation Administration funds with the goal of constructing business that would support the nearby airport. The Commission is expected to make a decision soon, and has scheduled an April 23rd meeting to discuss possible uses and absorb resident feedback.
