The DCA Planning Rules Task Force had a meeting on January 17 regarding local planning rules. At this meeting, DCA staff presented the Task Force members with a list of options for a new approach to community planning. In this list, task force members were asked to review three areas of focus for the new local planning rules. These areas include:
- Allow more flexibility and choice in planning
- Vary requirements by community characteristics (thresholds)
- Simplify the process (need better fit for rural governments)
The task force members were asked to address each focus area and present recommendations for any changes to be made to each focus area before the staff creates a draft of the new local planning rules.
