On September 15th, the Cherokee County BOC adopted amendments to the county’s Conservation Subdivision Ordinance. Now referred to as a Conservation Design Community, the new ordinance has a sliding scale that allows for conservation subdivision designs as a use by right in all residential zoning categories. The ordinance allows constrained lands to be applied to the density calculations and has flexibility in minimum lot sizes. The ordinance also contains more reasonable minimum lot widths than originally proposed.
