After the dust has settled in the race for Cobb County Commission Chairman, Incumbent Tim Lee is left standing and will face controversial former Chairman Bill Byrne in an August 21st runoff. Chairman Lee has led Cobb County since his special election in 2010, in a flailing economy and boldly made tough choices that allowed Cobb County to maintain its AAA Bond Rating while still providing county services in an efficient manner. Former Chairman Bill Byrne, who left office in 2002 in a failed run for the Republican primary nomination for Governor, finishing third, has been a vocal critic of Lee and has proposed a $34 million dollar decrease in the Cobb County budget, but has not laid out specifics on where those cuts would occur.
