On Wednesday, March 13, 2024 Mableton City Council unanimously voted to approve William “Bill” Tanks as the first City Manager. Tanks currently serves as the Executive Director of the City of Powder Springs public services, equity, and inclusion agency. Tanks is a Navy veteran, a former Cobb County firefighter, and previously served as the Director of Public Services at Cobb County.

Tanks first day with the City of Mableton will be on April 1, 2024.

Mayor Michael Owens mentioned that bringing Tanks onto the team of the burgeoning city will help alleviate some of the workload that has fallen on the small staff. Over the last eight months and based on how the city charter was set up, Mayor Owens has been serving not only as Mayor but also the Chief Executive Officer and chief administrative officer.

The Council for Quality Growth and our members look forward to working with Mr. Tanks in this new role.
