The latest chapters of the Cherokee Unified Development Code draft were released for review at the Board of Commissioners Work Session on July 19th. Fourteen members of the county staff from the planning and land use, engineering, development, inspection, stormwater, building inspection, development services center and information technology departments are integrating the zoning ordinance, development regulations and building codes administration. The purpose of the unified development code is to create a set of regulations that are user-friendly and ensure that future development is compatible with the character of rural, suburban and urban parts of the community. Over the summer, members of the county staff will present the draft development code at the Board of Commissioners Work Session. Cherokee County has created a site where you can learn more about the process, read the draft code documents and submit feedback on the code. You can visit the site here.
