On July 17th, the Cherokee County the BOC voted unanimously to adopt amendments to the County Fire Code ordinance that created a new Fire Codes Board of Appeals. The Board will serve as a quasi-judicial & administrative board with the power and duty to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the Fire Chief, or designee, related to the suitability of alternative materials and types of construction and to interpret the existing Fire Code. It will not have the authority to amend or modify the Fire Code.
