Atlanta BeltLine Recieves EPA’s Overall Excellence Award for Smart Growth and Achievement

 

Congratulations to CEO Paul Morris and the Atlanta BeltLine and the city of Atlanta as Mayor Kasim Reed was presented with the EPA’s Overall Excellence Award for Smart Growth and Achievement for the BeltLine, specifically the East Side Trail and the Historic Fourth Ward Park. The BeltLine was chosen from a group of 77 contenders from 31 states. The EPA selected the winner based on the BeltLine’s commitment to sustainable, responsible growth, while also engaging in equitable economic development.

The BeltLine has been highlighted nationally on several occasions for its innovative approach to smart growth through brownfield redevelopment. The project has brought together a combination of public, private, and nonprofit entities to in order to accomplish a common goal of sustainable development.
