This week the non-profit 1071 Coalition released an economic impact study on the area surrounding Lake Lanier during the 2007-2009 drought. Alex Laidlaw, 1071 Coaliton President, stated, “When you aggregate all the numbers, the total negative effect, it’s in the $300 million range for one year.” The report looked at annual earnings, annual visits, property values and how other categories were affected in this report. The 98 – page study was prepared by Bleakley Advisory Group, PBS&J and Georgia State University economist Dr. Bruce Seaman. You can read the entire report at the link below.
