The County faces a serious budget shortfall, and the Development Department is on track to spend more than double its anticipated revenue. The County postponed laying off as many as ninety employees earlier in the month, but more cuts are expected in the coming days. With permit fees and other development fees at low levels, the department has seen significant losses in revenue this year.
