Cobb County Commissioners agreed to let citizens vote on an extension of the local purpose option sales tax (SPLOST) on December 14th. Commissioners voted 4-1 on the four-year tax levy that is expected to generate $492 million for parks, recreation and transportation maintenance projects for the county and Cobb’s six cities. Commissioner Helen Goreham cast the dissenting vote calling the process “rushed.” The special election will be held on March 15, 2011. Continuation of the SPLOST is critical toward providing a strong infrastructure and economic vitality for Cobb County. You can view the complete project list and learn more about the SPLOST here.
