Proposed changes to the Rockdale County Tree Ordinance include: reduced tree density requirements, more emphasis on preserving existing trees, no longer allowing street trees to help meet the required density, requiring a maintenance bond in an amount equal to 125% of the estimated cost of replacement of newly planted or existing protected trees, a review and filing fee for timber harvesting with the notice to the County (following O.C.G.A. 12-6-24) and more species of canopy trees added to the approved trees for replacement list. The ordinance is scheduled to go to the Planning Commission in June.
