At its October 20th work session, City Council heard a request from CQG staff and the HBA to revisit the City’s implementation of impact fees, which were approved in April 2008. Specifically, CQG has requested that the City postpone implementation until the summer of 2009, establish a grandfather/hardship provision for existing projects and pursue collection of fees upon request of a CO rather than the request for a building permit. These measures would provide an immediate relief to our industry during a crucial time. During the meeting, the City Council indicated an interest in further exploring hardship requests and collection of fees at CO. CQG will meet with Planning Director Jeff Moon in November to discuss successful examples of cities which have implemented the fee collection at CO.
