Georgia DOT Commissioner Resigns

Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Vance Smith announced his resignation effective December 31st at a special called board meeting on September 7th.  Board Chairman Rudy Bowen said the board felt if was time for the department to “go in a different direction.”  The GDOT board elected Smith in June 2009 to replace Gena Evans.  The interim commissioner will be GDOT’s director of operations, Keith Golden, who was appointed deputy commissioner.  Mr. Smith will serve in an advisory role until the board hires a new commissioner.  You can read more in the article below.
