The Council For Quality Growth to Honor John C. Portman, Jr. with the 2013 Four Pillar Award

Council for Quality Growth is proud to announce this year’s Four Pillar Tribute Honoree, John C. Portman, Jr.  The 2013 four Pillar Tribute will be held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta on Thursday, October 10th, 2013 at 6:00pm.

Mr. Portman is the founder and Chairman of the Board for Portman Holdings, a real estate development, John Portman and Associates, an architectural and engineering firm, and AmericasMart, the world’s largest trade mart.  Mr. Portman came from humble beginnings starting out as part of a two-man architectural practice. That practice has transformed into an international organization of architecture, real estate development, and trade marts.

Mr. Portman transformed the Atlanta skyline and revived downtown with the development of the Peachtree Center. Additionally, Portman has contributed several other developments to the city of Atlanta including the Hyatt Regency Atlanta which boasts a unique indoor atrium that set the trend for hotels nation wide. His accomplishments are not limited to Atlanta, however. Portman has taken his award winning architecture and vision all over the world including New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, Dallas, Warsaw, Los Angeles, and Detroit just to name a few.

The 2013 Four Pillar Tribute’s theme this year is “Seeking the Truth,” an ideal that has undoubtedly guided Mr. Portman through his career. Mr. Portman has uncanny ability to understand the economic components of the urban environment which make his endeavors aesthetically and functional to those who utilize his ingenious designs.
