New Atlanta Department of Watershed Management Commissioner Confirmed

Jo Ann J. Macrina was confirmed by the Atlanta City Council as the new Commissioner of the Department of Watershed Management on December 5th. She has worked as the acting commissioner of the department since earlier this year. Macrina formerly worked in DeKalb County prior to joining the City of Atlanta. The Commissioner’s Office has responsibility for strategic planning and oversight for the long-term development and operation of drinking water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment services and stormwater management. Currently, the department is undertaking a city-wide audit of residential water meters and seeking an extension to the federal deadline for a $4 billion sewer system overhaul.
