Henry County Appoints Interim Commissioner Greg Cannon

Henry County Chairwoman Carlotta Harrell has appointed Republican Greg Cannon to the commission seat formerly held by Gary Barham. Barham, a Republican who represented District 3 in Henry County, passed away in early March of complications from COVID-19.

Cannon, CEO and co-owner of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, was sworn in to the interim role on Monday April 5th, just days after new state legislation directing Harrell to make the appointment if the full board could not come to a consensus on Barham’s replacement was sent to Governor Kemp.

Greg is a resident of McDonough, Georgia, and a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, where he served as Class President and is also a member of Pi Sigma Eta. He is a member of the Academy Of Graduate Embalmers Of Georgia. He has received his CPC (Certified Preplanning Consultant) certification and the CFSP (Certified Funeral Service Practitioner) designation. Greg formerly served five years as the Coroner of Henry County, is a member of McDonough Presbyterian Church, the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the McDonough Business Association, serves on the board with the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, and a member of the National Funeral Directors Association. He has also served as a past member of the Henry County Rotary International.
