Brantley Day began his new role as the Community Development Agency Director for Cherokee County on July 29, 2021 and brings more than 20 years of municipal planning and community development management experience. The Council for Quality Growth congratulates Brantley and is looking forward to continuing to work with him in the new role.
Day has served as the Community Development Director for cities of Woodstock and Holly Springs, as well as the Director of Operations for the Cumberland Community Improvement District. In that role, he managed and delivered a portfolio of capital transportation and community projects to leverage the maximum return on investment for commercial property taxpayers. His career began in Riverdale as an intern and was later appointed as the city’s first city planner. In only two years, he became Riverdale’s first Community Development Director. Day holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, both from the University of Georgia. He is credentialed as a certified city planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) of the American Planning Association. He and his family reside in Cherokee County.

As a county resident for nearly 20 years, I’m thankful to have this opportunity to contribute and join the fantastic team at Cherokee County.”
The Cherokee County Community Development Agency Director is responsible for overseeing Planning and Zoning, Stormwater Management, Public Works, Building Inspections, Roadway/SPLOST and Engineering. As Day starts his tenure with Cherokee County, some additional changes are being made to the Community Development Agency. Stormwater Manager Ben Morgan is assuming the role of county engineer responsible for stormwater engineering, development inspection, NPDES and arborist. Former Engineering Manager Brett Buchanan is now the county’s transportation director and is responsible for transportation engineering, traffic operations and public works.
