ARC is seeking the HUD PRO housing grant to support local governments in the 11-county Atlanta region that have demonstrated progress and commitment to overcoming housing barriers. Grant funding will support efforts to increase housing production and reduce housing costs.
ARC’s grant proposal seeks to address the region’s affordable housing challenges by:
- Providing adequate and flexible funding at the city and county level for land and housing.
- Identifying and activating vacant land owned by local governments, faith-based organizations and others.
- Establishing and expanding land banks to acquire, hold, and transfer properties for community benefit and to activate targeted properties for affordable housing.
- Leveraging community land trusts and shared-equity partnerships, and other models for permanent affordability to address the loss of affordable units and provide community control over housing needs.
- Providing research, resource development, and education to implement housing solutions.
