At its regular meeting on Monday, July 9th, the City Council voted to issue a 115-day moratorium on Special Use or Conditional Use Permit applications within the City’s Highway Commercial (HC) zoning districts. The moratorium would be through October 31st. The purpose of the moratorium is to allow staff opportunity to study and amend allowed uses within the HC Districts in order to promote the re-development of such cooridors. The moratorium will coincide with the purposed Buford Highway Study that will guide the character of the corridor in an effort to stimulate redevelopment and economic development of the area.
