Millage Rate Vote

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to cut the millage rate on August 8th.  The Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 to let the .23 mill levy for construction projects to expire dropping Gwinnett’s property tax rate from 13.25 mills to 13.02 mills.  Commissioners had considered keeping the tax rate the same to cover operating costs and repay the debt from the jail expansion but ultimately decided to let the mill levy expire.  This property tax decrease means Gwinnett County will have to cede $4.8 million in annual revenue.
