Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention

Gwinnett County completed revisions to the Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention Ordinance. The revisions were adopted on September 21st. The revised ordinance provides the Department of Water Resources the authority to require a backflow device to be installed by an industry or other commercial establishment at their connection to the County Potable Water System. The device can be installed by the customer or allows the Department to install the device and bill the customer or cease water service at unsafe connections to the potable water system. The revised ordinance will allow the Department to do the testing and record keeping for the commercial establishment at their request with reimbursement to the department by the owner/customer. The effective date is January 1, 2011 to allow the Department time to notify and educate customers that are not in compliance. You learn more at the following links below.
