World-Renowned Musician Michael W. Smith to Perform at the Council’s Prestigious Four Pillar Tribute

Multi-platinum artist, best-selling author and acclaimed actor Michael W. Smith will perform at the 29th annual Four Pillar Tribute on Oct. 4, 2018 at the Georgia World Congress Center. This year’s Four Pillar Tribute will honor Georgia Power Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Bowers.

More than 1,000 attendees convene annually at this black-tie affair to honor a local leader for his or her commitment to the ‘Four Pillars’ of leadership – Quality, Responsibility, Vision and Integrity – and their contribution to the Council’s mission of promoting balanced and responsible growth.

This year, guests also will be treated to an inspiring performance by Michael W. Smith. Considered by many the “fulcrum of Christian music,” Smith releases new music regularly and performs around the world to sold- out crowds of loyal and inspired fans. During Smith’s storied career, he’s not only been honored with three Grammy Awards, 45 Dove Awards, an American Music Award and has sold more than 15 million albums, he’s also given back to the global community. Smith has raised funds to battle AIDS in Africa alongside longtime friend Bono, started Rocketown (a safe haven for young people in Tennessee to meet and find hope) and has helped more than 70,000 children through Compassion International.

“We are delighted to elevate our most prestigious annual event even further with a performance by such an inspiring artist,” said Council for Quality Growth President & CEO Michael Paris. “This will truly be an affair to remember.”

The Council is proud to honor Bowers with its Four Pillar Tribute. Bowers was named chairman, president and CEO of Georgia Power in 2011. Georgia Power is the largest electric subsidiary of Southern Company, one of the nation’s leading energy providers, and serves 2.5 million customers across the state of Georgia. Being “A Citizen Wherever We Serve” is a core value shared by all 7,000 Georgia Power employees, and the company has been recognized as a Most Trusted Brand by Market Strategies International and ranked number one in J.D. Power residential customer satisfaction in 2017. Last year, the company, employees and retirees donated more than 147,000 service hours and invested $21 million dollars in Georgia communities.

In 2018, Bowers was inducted as a Georgia Trustee by the office of the governor and the Georgia Historical Society for exemplifying the highest standard of “Not for Self, but for Others” in his life and career. He has also received the American Jewish Committee’s National Human Relations Award and has been inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.
