There are a few local government runoff elections set on December 3rd in the Metro Atlanta region. Listed below are a few key mayoral run-off elections.
City of College Park’s mayoral race will have a run-off election. Mayor Jack Longino and Bianca Motley Broom will advance to the runoff election. Mayor Longino is seeking his seventh term as Mayor of the City of College Park. Broom currently works as a mediator for a firm in Atlanta and has resided in College Park for over ten years.
Morrow residents have to return to the polls to elect their new mayor. John Lampl, former city manager, councilmember, and Downtown Development Authority director and Mayor Jeffrey DeTar will advance to the runoff. Both candidates did not receive more than 50% of the vote.
Mayor Donna Pittman and former Councilmember Joseph Geierman will head to a runoff in the City of Doraville.
Also, a runoff election will decide the open race for Smyrna mayor. Mayor Pro Tem and four-year councilman, Derek Norton and restaurant owner, Ryan Campbell will advance to the run-off on December 3rd.

Henry County voters approved the fifth iteration of their SPLOST on November 5th. 52% of the voters (8,601 voters) approved the referendum. Starting in April 2020, the 1% sales tax collected will be allocated to SPLSOT V projects. The five-year program is projected to be worth $204 million. Henry County is projected to receive $155,872, 692 and cities are expected to receive $48, 127,306.
-1.1 million will be allocated towards maintenance and construction projects
-$77,143,937 will be allocated toward roads, bridges, sidewalks and county transportation offices
-$19,600,063 will be allocated towards recreation & park facilities
-$12,728, 694 will be allocated towards the fleet replacement program.
The Council for Quality Growth applauds Henry County voters for approving the SPLOST V program. The fifth iteration of the SPLOST will fund critical infrastructure projects that will make significant contributions to regional’s transportation system.
